Human Wuya

Wuya is an evil Heylin witch. She was defeated in the first Xiaolin Showdown by the legendary Grand Master Dashi and trapped in a wooden Puzzle Box.[1] However, centuries later she was released by Jack Spicer.[1]

She is usually seen working with a partner (often Jack Spicer) to collect Shen Gong Wu and take over the world once again. She has the power to sense Shen Gong Wu, but needed a living person to collect them for her (namely Jack Spicer) as a ghost.

She later became a living being again with Chase Young's help, albeit powerless.

Personality[]

Wuya is a very ruthless, cruel, and cunning person who would stop at nothing to achieve her goals of world domination and would ally herself with anyone to do so.

In her ghost form, Wuya is often cranky, though the extent of this was different from season to season; in season one she's generally very calm, convincing and patient even though like[2] when Raimundo was annoyed because he didn't have the lap of luxury that she promised him, or when Jack was doing something really stupid or when Raimundo's former friends are making a buffoon out of him. She can be sad when Katnappé refused to join her[3] or when Jack refused to team up again after Mala Mala Jong is destroyed or when Raimundo starts to leave Brazil without giving her an answer about becoming partners[2]. While in season two she often just yelled at Jack and complained about things.[1][4] Also, in season two, it was implied that Wuya feared the coming of the end of the world, caused by anything that's out of her own control.[5] She is proud of someone (namely Katnappé or Raimundo after they won a showdown against their opponent[3] Omi and[2] Jack respectively).

However, while working with Chase she showed a different behavior, very similar to the one she had during the first season finale episode when Raimundo joined her side after winning the showdown against Jack Spicer. That was mainly because Chase or Raimundo weren't as incompetent as Jack. Moreover, she seemed to be somewhat impatient of turning Omi to the dark side.

In her human form, Wuya is much more calm, persuasive, decisive and manipulative. Despite her evil and malevolent ways, Wuya always kept her word. An example of this was giving Raimundo, the lap of luxury that he asked for after he helped her restore to her fleshy form,[2] even though she could have easily betrayed him which happened when Raimundo said that he wanted his due and she told him that he should join Kimiko, Clay, Dojo and Jack inside the dungeon to be imprisoned after Wuya told Raimundo that he has what he asked for but he changed his mind when he told Wuya that Kimiko, Clay and Dojo could live inside the palace alongside him. Then Raimundo tells his friends that they won't believe the stuff that Wuya has like video games, race cars and speed boats. She even let Raimundo rule by her side.[6][7] Plus, Wuya gave Katnappé the lap of luxury that she asked for during the episode[8] when they teamed for a short time. She was also very calm, as when Chase blocked her god-like powers she responded to that coolly, saying that she would have done the same thing. In season 3, she wanted to gain again Shen Gong Wu and displayed many times a traitorous behavior over Chase. However, she was loyal and patient to everyone who was able to fulfill her desires and treated her nicely (like Hannibal Roy Bean).

Despite her age she's also extremely up to date (she seemed to be more even more up to date than Omi). She is familiar with technology, she drives cars, motorcycles, reads magazines and is expert in pinball but she isn't familiar with air hockey.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

Wuya has two main forms; her Ghost form and her human form. Each one of them has different powers.

Ghost Form[]

  • Intangibility: In her original ghost form, she was able to pass through anything, and while intangible, be blown away, and be splashed by water.
  • Levitation: As she was a ghost, she could move around only through levitation.
  • Shen Gong Wu Detection: Her ghost form was able to detect and her eyes glow when Shen Gong Wu had been activated[2] and their exact location.[9]
  • Illusions: She could create extremely realistic illusions to show someone what their luxurious lifestyle would be like if the person joins her (namely Raimundo).[2]
  • Clairoyance: Wuya had a form of extrasensory perception, able to perceive the condition of subjects from the past, present, or future, by entering in their heads (namely Raimundo).[10]
  • Size Alteration: She could change her size, as shown in many occasions during the series when she is either bigger or smaller. When she becomes really small, she can enter inside people's head and read their minds (namely Raimundo).[10]
  • Possession: She was able to enter inside the bodies of alive people, to control them for a short time. She was able to possess a brainless Raimundo after the Shen Gong Wu made him their puppet[11] and Jack when they were reunited. As seen, when she controlled Jack, she could change the face of the person she possesses to be similar to hers[12].
  • Limited Object Teleportation: She could make the Monkey Spear and other Shen Gong Wu appear from nowhere.
  • Limited Telekinesis: She could use limited telekinesis to "lift" objects, such as magazines, in order to use them properly, as she was intangible and she could not touch them.

Human Form[]

Wuya havewaysofmakingyoutalk

"As they say, I have ways of making you talk."

  • Heylin Magic: In her human form, Wuya had unparalleled mastery of the dark/Heylin arts, which she used to try to take over the world.[1][6] Her magical powers were superior to that of Chase Young and Hannibal Roy Bean combined. However, the full extent of Wuya's magical powers was not fully shown throughout the series. After being restored to her human form a second time by Chase Young, all of her Heylin Magic was sealed away, leaving her unable to utilize it anymore. With her Heylin Magic intact, she can perform many magical and supernatural feats such as:
    • Physics Manipulation: Wuya was able to control the laws of physics, allowing her to control many different physical forces.
      • Reality Warping: She could create, change, destroy, or even alter reality just by thinking about it. She could change the physiology of Earth itself to suit her personal needs and even change the design of the sun and the moon.[2][6]
      • Object Materialization: She was able to create inanimate matter such as fancy cars, video games, and statues, from nothing.[6]
      • Space Manipulation: She could warp, bend, flip, crush, control and otherwise manipulate physical aspects of space within an area of her choosing, able to even make the moon hang right above her palace.[6]
        • Portal Creation: Wuya could create portals by opening a hole in the universe connecting two non-adjacent locations. The portals that she could create were able to suck only the individuals that Wuya wanted, without their own will (namely Kimiko, Clay, Dojo and Jack).[7]
      • Time Stopping: Wuya was able to stop time around a specific area while being unaffected.[13]
      • Pressure Manipulation: She could increase the pressure of the environment around her to easily crush and/or deform objects simply by making physical contact with them.[6]
      • Energy Manipulation: She was able to create energy blasts of various colors, sizes, and shapes, that she could bend and spin in every way and direction she wanted or even fire multiple blasts at once. She could also create energy cages to trap people.[7][14] Her blasts were so powerful, that could send Dashi several miles away, through a whole forest.
        • Energy Kisses: She had the ability to transform her kisses into concussive energy blasts.
      • Light Generation: Whenever Wuya retained her human form, the power that she unleashed could create really powerful and intense lights of various colors (mainly white and green) that could almost blind the people who watched them.[2]
    • Elemental Manipulation: Wuya could create, shape and manipulate the elements of nature.
      • Air Manipulation: Wuya could create and manipulate air and wind, being able to create large clouds of dust, manipulate the clouds and create winds strong enough that could almost blow the Xiaolin Monks off a hill.[6]
      • Green Fire Manipulation: Wuya was able to create and manipulate green flames, more intense than normal fire. She was able to produce such fire from her whole body, even from her eyes, and maintain it for a great amount of time with ease. With such power, she could create green blazes that could cover a whole hill within seconds and create fire blasts that could break through solid stone.[2][6][7]
      • Earth Manipulation: She was able to create, shape and manipulate earth. Her geokinetic abilities were monumental. She was able to create mountains and large pillars of stone or even make a complete palace out of simple rocks, by only waving her hands.[6]
        Golems

        Wuya and her golems

        • Rock Creatures Summoning: She could summon rock creatures of every shape and size called "Boys" or "Guards" by Raimundo.[6][7] She could summon them by only clapping her hands. They had superhuman strength and durability and could also create rocks on fire, to attack their enemies.[6][7]
    • Telekinesis: She could move and manipulate people and objects by only using her mind, without having any kind of physical contact with them.[6]
      WuyaFlying

Wuya Flying and Creating Green Fire

      • Levitation: She could carelessly hover in the air and prevent her body from making contact with the ground below.[6]
    • Flight: Wuya was able to fly at incredible speeds and heights, probably by magical means or through telekinesis.[6][14]
    • Teleportation: She was able to transport from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them. She could achieve such feat with many different ways and even change her clothes and appearance while reappearing.[6][7]
    • Invulnerability: She could withstand the elemental attacks of all three monks (Omi, Kimiko, and Clay) without even a scratch.[6]
    • Power Bestowal: She could give a small number of her powers to her allies, as she did with Raimundo, making him able to summon Rock Creatures via snapping his fingers.[7]
    • Illusions: In her human form she could also create extensive illusions, able to even create a detailed illusion of the globe that she could spin around.[6]
    • Magical Sight: She could track and observe everybody, through magical means, for a considerable amount of time by creating a magical "window".
    • Lightning Generation: She was could shoot lightning from her hands, able to even overcome the Eye of Dashi, which had an unlimited amount of power. She could also summon lightning from the sky when she retained her human form.[1][2]
    • Shen Gong Wu Detection: Wuya's human form was still able to detect Shen Gong Wu, as she located the Rio Reverso. When she was detecting a Shen Gong Wu, her green eyes turned yellow and her hair could be seen floating like they were underwater.[15]
    • Shen Gong Wu Immunity: Wuya was immune to the effects of Shen Gong Wu and Xiaolin Magic, able to even withstand multiple Shen Gong Wu attacks with ease.[13][6]
    • Animation: She could give life to inanimate objects and control them, able to bring multiple statues to life at the same time.[14]
    • Immortality: She had the ability to never age and stay young forever. As she did not physically age in the episode "Time After Time", which takes place 80 years into the future, it can be assumed that she is essentially immortal and has eternal youth.
  • Superhuman Strength: She has shown that she is incredibly strong, kicking and punching the monks several yards away (namely Omi, Kimiko, Clay and Raimundo)[6] and[13], even through solid objects like stone with ease and breaking through metal.[13]
  • Superhuman Speed: She was capable of running and accelerating to high speeds which a human could never achieve, becoming a blur.
  • Superhuman Durability: The tissues of her body were considerably harder and more resistant to physical injury than those of an ordinary human. She is capable to withstand several punches from the monks and Shen Gong Wu like they're nothing. Apparently, she also possesses a vast threshold for pain.[6]
  • Superhuman Agility: Wuya's agility, balance, and bodily coordination were enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
  • Superhuman Reflexes: Her reflexes were enhanced in a similar manner and were superior to those of the finest human athlete and the monks. She has been able to react to a barrage of gunfire from multiple Jack-Bots at once, unharmed.

Abilities[]

Wuya's charm

Wuya's charm

  • Master Martial Artist: Wuya has proven herself several times to be an excellent martial artist, capable of defeating the monks one by one or at the same time.
  • Manipulating Skills: Wuya is capable of manipulating people by using their fears, insecurities or desires against them, either to trick them or convince them to join her (namely Raimundo), as well lull enemies into a false sense of security.
  • Feminine Charm: Wuya's greatest ability, however, was her "female willies", as Omi refers to them. It is through her own guile that she convinced many of her allies to join her (namely Raimundo Pedrosa and Chase Young). She also uses these 'abilities' to lull enemies into a false sense of security (Raimundo in "The Life and Times of Hannibal Roy Bean") or cause them to become enraged and careless. (Kimiko in the same episode).[13]
  • Wuya driving a car

Expert Shen Gong Wu User: Wuya was an exceptional user of nearly every Shen Gong Wu, able to use their powers more effectively than most others. She could use the Ruby of Ramses to make Jack do some extreme martial arts, the Third-Arm Sash and the Mantis Flip Coin, to dodge Omi's attacks and simultaneously try to steal the Fist of Tebigong, the Rio Reverso to make a T-Rex come back to life and combine the Reversing Mirror with the Serpent's Tail to become human again.

Weaknesses[]

Human form[]

In her human form, Wuya didn't have any inherent weaknesses, other than Dashi's Puzzle Box/Iron Spring, from which she can't escape from.[1][7][14] This also takes away her body as a result once released, leaving her without a physical form.

Ghost form[]

In her ghost form, Wuya was virtually powerless beyond her ability to detect Shen Gong Wu. Being ghostly, she was completely intangible to the living world and required the aid of a living companion to act on her schemes.

History[]

Background[]

Journey of a Thousand Miles 2

Wuya Fighting with Dashi

Wuya's story began 1,500 years prior to the show's beginning, where she fought a great battle between herself and the great Xiaolin Master Dashi in the first Xiaolin Showdown. Wuya pitted her dark magic against Dashi's Shen Gong Wu, and in the end, Dashi was the victor and Wuya was imprisoned in a wooden Puzzle Box/Iron Spring. Then, Dashi spread his Shen Gong Wu around the Earth so no evil could ever lay the hands on them.[1]

Xiaolin Showdown[]

Season One[]

Jack opens Wuya's Puzzle Box.

In the start of the show, Wuya was released from her prison by a boy named Jack Spicer, a self-proclaimed "evil boy genius," so she persuaded him to join the hunt for the Shen Gong Wu. She could not touch anything, because she was a spirit and needed Jack to collect the Shen Gong Wu for her, in hopes of taking over the world.[1]

As the series progressed, Wuya and Jack worked together to find the Shen Gong Wu. However, they often failed due to the Monks' skills and Jack Spicer's incompetence. Wuya reacted by beginning to show signs of leaving Spicer in search of a better option, such as Katnappé[9], Mala Mala Jong, Raimundo Pedrosa, Raksha, or Chase Young.

Near the end of the first season, Wuya and Jack had the necessary amount of Shen Gong Wu needed to create Mala Mala Jong, the ancient demon warrior who was completely loyal to Wuya. Wuya then decided that she no longer needed Spicer, and left with Mala Mala Jong to raid the Xiaolin Temple. Contrary to expectations and much to her anger, the Chosen Ones had left with the Shen Gong Wu. However, much to Wuya's good fortune, the Dragon of the Wind, Raimundo returned to save Master Fung, but the young monk was no match for Mala Mala Jong; Wuya went inside Raimundo's head and found out the location of the hidden Shen Gong Wu and set out to find them in the side of a mountain. However, without knowing it, Omi, the Dragon of the Water, gained the Golden Tiger Claws and took the Heart of Jong out of the monster. Therefore, Mala Mala Jong, no longer existed, and much to Wuya's disappointment, she seemingly had no choice but to go back to Jack.[10]

After these events, Wuya attempted to reform her partnership with Spicer. However, Jack had no need for her anymore and left her without an ally. Despite this, Wuya had a back-up plan after the events of the previous day. The Dragon of the Wind, Raimundo had been angered when he isn't being promoted to the rank of Xiaolin Apprentice alongside Omi, Kimiko and Clay so Raimundo left the Xiaolin Temple to return to his hometown. There Wuya found him alone and tells him that she learned when she entered his mind that he isn't all happy being a Xiaolin warrior and she sensed his dissatisfaction with the endless training and offered him a "faster more rewarding way one that appreciates his unique talents and abilities". However, the Reversing Mirror revealed itself before Raimundo had given her an answer, and he returned to the temple to start the search for it alongside his friends. After winning the Mirror in a Showdown against Jack then Omi, Kimiko, Clay and Dojo congratulate Raimundo. Then Raimundo asks Wuya "So, where do you want them?" and she is proud of him which shocked Omi, Kimiko, Clay and Dojo and Jack when Raimundo joined Wuya on the villain side as her new partner after he tells his former friends Omi, Kimiko, Clay and Dojo to find him on Heylin side because he's done with this Xiaolin thing, before Raimundo leaves alongside Wuya to plan their conquest of the world but he refused to go back to the temple then he tells her find another chump when he starts to leave but she tells him that he can have his own personal soccer team and "How it will like to drink out of the world cup?" then Raimundo stays and asks her "Okay, so what do I do?" Wuya sent Raimundo to steal the Serpent's Tail from the temple so she could regain her powers and her body. He succeeded in retrieving it, and Wuya was once again the most powerful being in the universe![2]

Season Two[]

Wuya's Palace

Now that Wuya was all-powerful, the world changed its landscape as soon as she transformed and the Reversing Mirror shattered under her feet. The three monks attempted to stop her, but they were powerless against the magic of the Heylin Witch, and so they and Dojo retreated with Jack (who had saved them from Raimundo and Wuya's Rock Creatures). Then, Wuya raised her palace, where she began her conquest of the globe. Now the world was hers with Raimundo on her side, and the Xiaolin Temple was easily dealt with. The monks and Dojo had nowhere to go for help, but Jack had an idea to send Omi back in time to get a new Puzzle Box from Dashi; after sending Omi to the past while Kimiko, Clay, Dojo and Jack were captured and imprisoned by Wuya. Suddenly, Omi returned successful and tried to open the box in the presence of Wuya; unfortunately, it did not open and victory was beyond doubt, for the Heylin Witch. Unforeseen by Wuya, Raimundo decided, after she triumphantly and arrogantly gave him the box, to free his friends and Jack Spicer from being crushed inside the cages, and Raimundo opened the box. The unexpecting villain was instantly incarcerated back in the Puzzle Box, and Wuya's reign of evil ended as the world returned to normal (the Reversing Mirror was also restored).[6][7]

Wuya returning to her human form

Very shortly after her defeat, Katnappé released her from the Box; the two decided to join forces. However, their partnership didn't last long, due to Katnappé's lack of determination. Soon after, the ghost and Jack reforged their coalition, and the two started once again to collect the Shen Gong Wu. They continued to work together on many occasions, but tensions were strained most of the time, due to Jack's new obsession with his evil hero and Wuya's ex-Xiaolin enemy, Chase Young. Soon after, Chase and Wuya began to work together to turn Omi to the dark side.

After their plan succeeded and Chase Young ruled the earth, he used the Serpent's Tail and the Reversing Mirror to return her to her human form; however, he did this without giving Wuya her god-like powers, so she would never be more powerful than him. Wuya responded to this calmly, stating that she would have done the same thing and stayed loyal by his side until Chase was defeated by the monks in a Xiaolin Showdown.

Season Three[]

After Chase's defeat, Wuya and he lived together in his fortress, for the most of the season, and the two worked together many times. Despite this, there was no sense of trust between the two, and Chase secretly had her under constant watch, as well as forbidding her from seeking out any more Shen Gong Wu.[15] Being forced to live as a normal powerless human, Wuya ironically became nostalgic for her ghostly form, bemoaning the downsides that came with being alive such as the need to sleep, eat, and use the bathroom.

When Hannibal Roy Bean returned from the Ying-Yang World, she began to work with him in hopes of using him to gain Shen Gong Wu and regain her powers. She also occasionally worked with Jack, nevertheless, she wasn't successful in her attempts to gain full powers. Between the periods of hostility, Wuya was working and living together with Chase. She made her final attempt to conquer him in 'Hannibal's Revenge', when she and Hannibal Bean created a private plan. To their dismay, the plan failed, and the two parted ways at last. After this event, Chase and Wuya settled their differences and decided to stay together "for the sake of evil". Wuya is seen along with the other Heylin villains at the end of the last episode.[14]

Xiaolin Chronicles[]

Season One[]

Jack Spicer and Wuya XC

Jack and Wuya, ready to take the Shroud of Monster Camo

Wuya in the flesh

Wuya in the Flesh

Wuya's reappearance in the second series, was when Master Fung told the story of the battle between her and Dashi, to the apprentices, that the Shoku Warriors had to choose. The story was the same with the prequel: Wuya was an evil Heylin witch, and the most powerful being in the universe, who sought to conquer the world. However, she was defeated by Grand Master Dashi and imprisoned in an iron spring (thought to be a Puzzle Box).

Later, she was released back into the world as a ghost by Jack Spicer, when he got a "present" at the front door. It is unknown how Wuya got trapped into the iron spring as Jack released her in the prequel. It possible that she was imprisoned again by the Xiaolin Monks after the events of the final episode. Wuya recognizes Jack, from when they used to work together, and the two partnered up. Her first plan was to find the Bubble Brains Shen Gong Wu so that she could go back into her human form and become once again, the most powerful being in the universe. After Jack lost that Shen Gong Wu, she continued to work with him, in hopes of regaining her powers, however because of Jack's incompetence and lack of focus, she was almost always mad of him.

Wuya and Shadow

Wuya and Shadow

After Jack turned good, Wuya took a more active role to regain her body. She used Jack's desire to gain more followers and the fact that Dojo left the Xiaolin Monks to get first to the Shen Gong Wu she needed, and even forced Good Jack to fight for it in the Showdown. However, Jack's incompetence made her lose the Shen Gong Wu she needed to regain her mighty powers. Wuya continued to be mad at him, even after he became evil again. She later allied with Tiny Sim for a short period of time.

It wasn't until the 'In the Flesh Again' when she finally managed to get back to her human form. Surprisingly, thanks to Shadow. Although there was nothing that indicated that Shadow somehow locked her goddess powers ( just like Chase Young did in the Showdown) she didn't use them after returning to her human form. Instead she chose to unleash the Mean Girls Viper Club (MGVC) and later, summoned Shadow. Shadow seemed uneasy about encountering someone she had recently helped, but Wuya's compliments and talk of "girl power" earn Shadow's trust. She also indicated that she knows something about the vision Shadow had thanks to Lao Mang Long. The two of them agreed to work together, but their alliance didn't last very long. It quickly turned out that Wuya betrayed Shadow; she set up a trap to take revenge on Princess Kaila.

Relationships[]

Heylin[]

Jack Spicer[]

Treasure of the Blind Swordsman

Example of Wuya's relationship with Jack

Wuya and Jack shared a very strained relationship, mostly because of Jack's incompetence; he often failed, which angered her to a great extent. Wuya seemed to have no problem leaving Jack for a better option like Katnappé[9], Mala Mala Jong, Raksha or Chase Young; however, when Wuya needed help from Jack he always complied, mostly because if he didn't she would probably use someone else to continue to foil his plans until he did. Wuya also acted as a kind of mentor or motherly figure for Jack in the early days of their partnership. During the third season, she cooperated with him many times, but she was almost always angry or even bored with him because he was still incompetent. However, in "Hannibal's Revenge", when Kimiko (having transformed into Jack) talked to her very rudely, she said that she liked that side of him.

After she was freed for the second time, from the puzzle box by Jack, she was very willing to reunite with him, as she believed that he was better than before. However, after realizing that he was as incompetent as before, they continued to share the same strained relationship they had.

Chase Young[]

Chase and Wuya reunion

Chase and Wuya reunited

One of Wuya's most notable relationships was with the Heylin Warrior, Chase Young. The two lived together in his palace through seasons two and three. Chase helped Wuya to retrieve her body, although without her god-like powers, as he knew she would easily defeated him. He had a sense of respect for her, regarding her as a worthy partner in evil. Nevertheless, after returning to her body without her full powers, Wuya wanted to gain independence rather than become Chase's sidekick. Their relationship became ambivalent. On the one hand, there was no trust between them; Chase was irritated by Wuya's treacherous ways and Wuya by being on a constant watch. On the other hand, they seemed very close to each other; they enjoyed plotting together and Chase didn't mind Wuya touching his armor (he was furious when Jack did it). He also accompanied her to get Shen Gong Wu, even though he wasn't interested in "Wu hunting". Eventually, Wuya began to side with Hannibal, much to Chase's disapproval. But the two eventually settled their differences. They showed in the temple, hugged, and announced that they decided to stay together "for the sake of evil," hinting a form of relationship between the pair of potent villains.

Hannibal Roy Bean[]

Contrary to her relationship with Chase and Jack, Wuya's relationship with Hannibal was very unique for one particular reason: the two seemed to share a mutual respect for each other and had always cooperated quite well when working together. The two shared a common enmity against Chase Young, and so on some occasions worked together to destroy him. Also, Wuya was the only other villain not to be betrayed by Hannibal (or vise-versa) in the show, suggesting that they enjoyed one another's company.

Salvador Cumo[]

In the past, Wuya had some kind of relationship with Salvador. What the nature of this relationship was, it is currently unknown.

Shadow[]

Xiaolin[]

Raimundo Pedrosa[]

Wuya lucratively tempted Raimundo into joining her on the Heylin side at the end of season one by using his dissatisfaction with endless training, bare bones lifestyle and the lack of appreciation. Raimundo tells Wuya where does she want the Reversing Mirror and the Lotus Twister that he won after the showdown was finished. Raimundo ends up joining Wuya on the Heylin side as her new partner as she congratulates him which shocked Omi, Kimiko, Clay, Dojo and Jack Spicer. Raimundo tells Omi, Kimiko, Clay and Dojo to find him on the Heylin side from now on. Then Raimundo activates the Golden Tiger Claws to leave before Wuya said "So long, Xiaolin warriors" as she leaves alongside her new partner to plan their world conquest. Raimundo used the Serpent's Tail while Wuya used the Reversing Mirror to convert her back into her physical form and restore her powers.[2] This gave her the ability to take control of the world again, as she did, 1500 years ago although this time she rules the world alongside Raimundo. She rewarded him for his loyalty to her by giving him anything he wanted. It appeared that she even let him rule by her side, granting him a limited amount of her power since he could summon Rock Creatures on his own by snapping his fingers as revealed when Kimiko and Clay destroyed the golems during the episode Citadel of Doom. In the end, however, Raimundo realized that what he really wanted was his friends, and he betrayed Wuya by trapping her in the Puzzle Box, that Dashi had made to free Omi, Kimiko, Clay, Dojo and Jack from being crushed by Golems.

Much later, in "The Last Temptation of Raimundo," Raimundo was temporarily possessed by Wuya.[11] When the Shen Gong Wu had taken over his body and his will-power because of the passing of the Heylin Comet, Omi, Kimiko and Clay quickly freed Raimundo from the Shen Gong Wu and Wuya. During the episode The Life and Times of Hannibal Roy Bean, Raimundo tells Wuya,"okay, old evil one, let's see what you got" before the two of them are fighting each other. Wuya gives Raimundo a compliment when she says "my, you're quite a muscular young man, you are" and he says "yeah, I work out a lot" as he drops the Sword of the Storm to show his muscular body but he blushes when Wuya is about to punch him to the same rock that Clay's head is trapped earlier.

Grand Master Dashi[]

Dashi and Wuya shared a very complex relationship. It has not been revealed how the two first met; however, despite the fact the two were mortal enemies, Wuya seemed to have a good sense of respect for how he dresses. She once stated to Raimundo, "He was always a fool; a smart dresser, but a fool."[7] This also implied she knew him prior to their battle, which would also explain how Dashi spoke in a smug and childish tone when he talked to her. Through the Xiaolin legend, they had become the symbols of good and evil (Xiaolin and Heylin)-- Dashi representing good and Wuya representing evil.

In her human form, Wuya takes the appearance of beautiful, brown-skinned young woman with a slim-yet-curvaceous figure, long slicked-back, two-toned red hair with several curls, bright green eyes with hypnotic-like pupils, claw-like hands, pointy ears and sharp vampire-like fangs. She also wore makeup which consists of black eyeliner that vaguely drawn to resemble running teardrops, and dark red lipstick on her lips.

Her attire is that of a robe-like black dress with purple outlines and both a dark red collar and dark red inner lining, followed by a dark red sash around her waist. She also has no footwear, often walking barefoot on her toes. She wears a cowgirl outfit and a hat during the episode "Treasure of the Blind Swordsman".

In Xiaolin Chronicles, Wuya's human form is slightly different. While she looks similar to her Showdown appearance, her skin was paler, the tip of her hair was curled, her eyeliner was sharper-looking, she had normal white pupils, and the collar of her dress was purple.

Ghost Form[]

Wuya's ghost form looked very similar to a purple squid; a disembodied floating head with many tentacles that resembled hair. She also was constantly masked in this form. The mask's eyes resembled Jack's eye goggles, Raimundo's medallion and Master Fung's medallion. She flashed and sparked when a Shen Gong Wu was located or when she was extremely emotional. Initially, Wuya's face/mask was more like an actual mask, not changing shape or appearance in her first appearances, which highly contrasted her later appearances, where it acted more like a face, showing many different expressions.

Other Notable Attributes to Appearance[]

  • Wuya was commonly called an "old hag", a witch and "Clown Face," due to her age and appearance as a spirit. While still referred to by these titles in her human form, Wuya was actually youthful and extremely striking. As she had not physically aged in the episode "Time After Time," which took place 80 years into the future, it can be assumed that she was essentially immortal and had eternal youth.[14]
  • When facing Kimiko in the Xiaolin Showdown of "The Life and Times of Hannibal Roy Bean", Wuya was momentarily seen in her good form after entering and exiting the Ying Yang World with only the Ying Yo-Yo. In this form, she looked exactly the same, except that her robe was white instead of black. While good, she stated that she would open a home for birds without nests.[13]

Voice[]

Wuya had two voices. While in her spirit form, Wuya used a deeper more raspy voice along with an echo effect to make the character seem more frightening.

However, in human form, Wuya used a much more alluring and smooth voice to make the character appear more stimulating and manipulative.

Her voice actress is Susan Silo, in Xiaolin Showdown and Cree Summer, in Xiaolin Chronicles.

Did You Know...?[]

  • Whenever Wuya became trapped in Dashi's Wooden Puzzle Box, she became a ghost. This was, in reality, a sort of safety measure implemented by Dashi, so that if somebody ever opened the Puzzle Box, then she would not be able to use any Shen Gong Wu or her magic powers.[7][14]
  • In "Like a Rock!", Wuya stated that she wreaked havoc and destruction while the earth was still young and mankind was just crawling out of the mud. That means that she was way older than 1,500 years old, that almost everyone stated, even as old as the mankind itself.
  • As she revealed in "Drawn To Be Evil", Wuya was formerly a supermodel.
  • Wuya has appeared in all episodes of the original series, save for three: "Night of the Sapphire Dragon", "The Return of Master Monk Guan", and "Wu Got the Power".
  • Wuya is the main enemy in six episodes of the first series: "In the Flesh", "Days Past", "Citadel of Doom", "The Last Temptation of Raimundo", and "Oil in the Family".
    • Wuya is also the main enemy in the episode "Heal Me", from the second series.
  • Wuya asks Raimundo Pedrosa twice to become partners during the episode In the Flesh but he didn't join her on the Heylin side after he won the showdown against Jack Spicer.
  • Wuya has her own soundtrack in the first series, that can be heard when she transformed back into her human form at both times.
  • Season 2, of the first series, is the only season, in both series, where Wuya appeared in every single episode.
  • As Chinese is a tonal language and an official translation has not been provided by series creator Christy Hui, it is uncertain as to the exact meaning of Wuya's name. However, one version, Wūyā (乌鸦 or 烏鴉), means crow/raven in Chinese. Two additional variants, 无牙/無牙 and 无涯/無涯 (both pronounced Wúyá), mean powerless (figuratively) and boundless, respectively, possibly alluding to Wuya's weak ghost form and powerful human form, respectively.
  • Wuya's name in the Greek dub of the show is pronounced as "Muya" (Μούγια).
  • Wuya is the only villain in the series to actually conquer the world more than once. She originally did so 1,500 years prior to the start of the first series, and again at the beginning of the second season.
  • Wuya partnered herself alongside three teenagers and a child which are Jack Spicer, Katnappé, Raimundo Pedrosa, and Tiny Sim but her solo partnership alongside Raimundo or Katnappé or Tiny Sim didn't last long.
  • Wuya doesn't have a monk as a partner during the sequel series.
  • Wuya was sad when Katnappé doesn't want to join her during the episode Katnappe!. Plus, Wuya was sad when Jack opens the hatch to see if the engines are working inside his jet car at the beginning of In the Flesh because she left him for Mala Mala Jong. Wuya was also sad when Raimundo says "I-I gotta go!" and "No way! Forget it! I'm done with this Xiaolin mook lifestyle! Find yourself another chump!"
  • Wuya offered to join forces alongside three teenagers and a child which are Jack during the episode The Journey of a Thousand Miles, next, she offered to join forces alongside Katnappe during the episode Katnappe! but the latter doesn't want to rule the world, then she offered to join forces alongside Raimundo during the episode In the Flesh, and last she offered to join forces alongside Tiny Sim during the episode Drawn To Be Evil.
  • When Wuya persuaded Jack to join forces by promising him the world in return during the episode The Journey of a Thousand Miles and he took her offer of working alongside each other foreshadows when she persuades Raimundo to join forces by promising him video games, cold soda, hot pizza and lap of luxury during the episode "In the Flesh" when he decided to take her offer to become partners.
  • Wuya joined forces alongside two teenagers that didn't want to rule the world which are Katnappé and Raimundo but they wanted to have the lap of luxury.
  • Wuya gave Jack, Katnappé, Raimundo and Tiny Sim an offer to join forces alongside her.
  • Wuya's first and third teenage partner said "forget it" during the episode In the Flesh.
  • Wuya has three partners that restored her back to her human form and they are Raimundo, Chase and Shadow.
  • Wuya successfully conquered the world alongside Raimundo during the episodes Days Past and Citadel of Doom until the latter realizes that he wanted was his friends and he betrayed her.
  • Wuya told Raimundo that a Shen Gong Wu has been activated before she asks him that the two of them could begin their partnership during the episode In the Flesh while the two of them are at Rio de Janeiro when two of them are having a conversation.
  • It is unexplained as to how Wuya got trapped in the spring during the start of Xiaolin Chronicles.
  • It is unknown about her current whereabouts after the events of "Fly the Dragon!", it is implied that she would've returned as the new main antagonist if the series had created another season.
