I thought reviews were going to go on blogs. Could you clarify this Ricky
As for the sneak peek, I loved it, taking into account it was a WIP video. It seemed to have the same style of the original, which I think really matters after all the changes to the show.
I thought this was so cool! The animation in this was a major improvement from Xiaolin Showdown. I like the concept of the showdowns being in 3D (but the 3D in this WIP needs a little more work). I didn't mind Tara Strong as Jack Spicer. She had a similar voice, but it was just a little to high. I liked Chase's voice instantly. But I can't wait to see who they actually got to voice jack in the actual show.
LOL @ everyone online: "Why is Omi wearing a TRON suit?!?!"
I actually liked it, and I don't see what the big deal is. Sure the ninja outfits were cool, but who knows: maybe Christy Hui is a TRON fan and got inspired to use this sort of suit on the monks (or something like that). My only "complaint" is that I would have liked to see the showdown completed instead of ending before the showdown got underway.
First of all, everything was amazing! I think I forgot to breath for the first minute or two. The animation was so beautiful and clean I was waiting for the cliche sparkles to show up.
However, Tara, Tara, Tara...we love you, but I could not get past you as Jack. As soon as I heard his lines I cringed, "--and that's Tara." I just could not take Jack seriously like this. But I am glad to see that his new, practical costume is almost as fabulous as Chase Young.
Chase Young in this clip needs only one word. Fabulous. Though, the hair flips, delicate eyelashes, and poofy 3D hair were a little too much for me, and I am glad to see a toned down, slightly aged version of him in the official promotion art.
I have no problem with the "TRON" suit. I see the glowing additions as another level of personalization to the uniform. I can't wait to see a full Showdown in 3D!! That will make my week, if not my month. I'm also curious to know if the 3D portions are more difficult to animate than the 2D parts. However, I believe that the 3D sculpting is likely the most difficult part. Good luck to the whole team!
I was one of the later people to see the WIP video, as it had already been taken offline before I learned about its existence. I read about it on other websites, but the video was no longer there. When it was re-released (i guess you could say), and I finally saw it for myself, it was honestly better and more than I expected!
Overall, I'm very enthusiastic about the upcoming Xiaolin Chronicles! I have set high expectations, but I know that Christy Hui and Tara Strong will not let me down! I am actually a little excited about a largely new voice cast, even though it is a shame to see some previously key members go. I cannot wait to begin the adventure of watching and recording the Xiaolin Legacy for current and future fans!
>.< WHY? Nearly all of the characters recast and new names? WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST REAIR THE SHOW????? Xiaolin Showdown - Ruined.
You don't know that the Xiaolin saga is "ruined". I would sit through a few episodes of Xiaolin Chronicles before making a statement like that. And this wasn't an official sneak peek. The voice actors were changed aside from the ones who voice Omi and Katnappe, because of a labor law in Canada which is where the production for Xiaolin Chronicles. The only new names are for the shen gong wu, because there were copyright issues with Warner bros.
Christy Hui (Xiaolin Showdown Creator) is in charge of writing and producing Xiaolin Chronicles, and I'm sure she knows what she's doing.
@BobbyRing96 - this is to further support the previous comment
There was no way around making this season with the hindrances placed on them - let me explain. The original names of the Shen Gong Wu are owned by Warner Bros Entertainment and since this is a Candian production - they can't use them under copyright law (and I think WB entertainment when belly up). Same goes for the redesigns like with Dojo and the locations - owned by Warner Bros but can't use them. Two, under Canadian work laws - American voice actors can't work in Canada unless they have a license to work there and they can be costly. So, they have to work with what they have and I believe they are honestly trying to get very similar voice actors. Let's give it a shot and hopefully, it will be better than we think.
The changes to the Shen Gong Wu, granded some, are ok, but one change that annnoyed me was the name change to the Shroud of Shadows to a name i can't even get right. Curse you Warner bros.
